Fast Food ‘Less Terrible’ Choices
Fast Food ‘Less Terrible’ Choices
By Loida Liz

Do you still like eating out? That drive-thru window is surely a quick, easy way to satisfy hunger and cravings. Here is a list of my preferred ‘less terrible’ food items of those available out there. Restaurants are competing for your money. Don’t let them win by ruining your health!
Excessive sodium (salt) intake is a huge public health concern. The average daily intake for Americans is 3,436 mg, and most of this sodium is coming from processed and restaurant foods.
Recommended daily intake:
• 1,500 calories (women) o 2,000 calories (men).
• Sodium intake not to exceed 1,500 mg.
• 4,700 mg of potassium.
Consider:
• Reducing sugar and carbs from your diet if you are overweight or have a serious health condition.
• Being physically active. Walking 20-30 minutes 5-6 days per week is a great start!
Below is the first menu in my series of ‘less terrible’ fast food choices that I will be presenting in this column. Collect them all and have them handy when you decide eating out is your only alternative on any given day.
